As some of you may or may not know, the (now annual) Unibar Coopers Clubs Cup is now underway! This is a competition between clubs, with a series of events earning the winning clubs points (30pts for 1st, 20 for 2nd and 10 for 3rd), with an additional 5 points given to each participating club.
The first event was on Wednesday last week, and was a quiz night. The club did fantastically, winning by about 17 points! As such we have a 10 point advantage now in the overall standings, and we’d love to keep it that way! The next event is a karaoke night in the Unibar, on Wednesday the 6th of May (this week coming) at 7pm. I don’t know how many teams are, as the exact information hasn’t been sent out yet, but an email will be sent to members sometime this week regarding this. Prizes are usually drinks/food vouchers and t-shirts for those in 1st place.
More information will be sent out soon (hopefully) so watch this space!

On Thursday May 7, 2009 at 12pm, in Union Cinema (level 5 of Union House) godless is holding an information seminar titled “What Is Atheism?”
This is going to be a discussion forum with short speeches to be given by 3 members of the committee followed by open discussion and questions from the audience at large. Providing what we hope will be a forum for anyone and everyone who wants to come along to learn a bit about atheism, atheists and what we are about.
I hope to see many of you there for what is our first of many lectures/seminars/debates planned for throughout the year.

Well, last night was Godless’ first event for the year, a dinner at Rundle Spices. We had 8 people turn up. The food was good, I myself had the Vietnamese BBQ pork noodles followed by for dessert a serving of fried ice cream.
The company and conversation were a delight and following dinner we migrated to the Chocolate Bean to continue conversation.
We didn’t touch on any topic even slightly approaching atheism but a good night was had by all.

Welcome to 2009, the year where stuff is set to happen!
We have a shiny new website, a shiny new committee and shiny new events planned for your pleasure!
This year will hopefully be seeing the return of posting on this website, as well as pubcrawls (note: plural!), a quiz night, social dinners, lectures/debates, film screenings, discussion groups and a formal dinner….and if we manage that lot without nervous breakdowns, I’ll be a happy one indeed!
The first event is to be held on Friday the 27th of March, and will be a BBQ followed by a social dinner (venue TBA).
We’re hitting the ground running, and will endeavor to keep you posted (pun intended) on events as they come around….

As is evident by the new design, our website is now much more easy to update and therefore more content will be appearing very soon.
The committee has a lot of plans for forthcoming events, so as they are completed we will post them here.
Finally, we screen every Friday night from 5.30pm to 6.30pm short films, at 6.30pm we screen a film with atheistic or secular themes in the Union Cinema, Level 5 Union House. Screenings are free for all.
Matt, President
