Well, on Friday we had a discussion group about religion and it's role in science and politics. We had a few new faces come along and join in which was great.

I learnt a lot from Ash's "experience" running for the Senate at the last Federal Election as a candidate for the Secular Party. It has inspired me to look in to what would be involved with running for the Upper House at the next State election myself...

It doesn't involve that much in getting your name on the ticket, what will be hard work is the campaign and policy formation. Obviously as an MLC I wouldn't be governing, but it would be highly benificial to be able to say where I stand on issues that the state is going to face in the coming years. I personally see the influence of religious organisations (unfortunately) becoming stronger. I may be wrong, and I hope so, but I'd like to be at the fore front of the political debate when such things do come up.
